The Supercar Run 10th Anniversary 08-06-2013

2013 saw us celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “Supercar Run”.

The Supercar Run took in all of the elements that we have most enjoyed during the last 10 years. These included a London start, driving through France, lots of mountains and our legendary Monte Carlo finish.

As always we stayed in great hotels and enjoyed first class food and wine, but more than ever this event continued our tradition of being the event that you choose if you like fabulous roads.Over a year of research was carried out to ensure an impeccable route before the beginning of the event.

Over the last 10 years the team at The Supercar Club have developed an unrivalled knowledge of the best roads in some of the most beautiful parts of Europe. These will vary from mountain passes and rolling countryside to spectacular coastlines and ancient cities. We visited some of the most famous roads and routes known to supercar enthusiasts, along with a whole host of spectacular, but unknown, roads - all thoroughly researched by the Supercar club team to maximise the enjoyment.

The Event

The Supercar Run began in London on the 8th June. After crossing the channel on the Eurostar train we drove through France to arrive at The Trianon Palace in Versailles, the venue for our first night. The hotel is one of France’s finest luxury retreats. Just steps away from the Palace of Versailles, it blends the ambiance of the legendary Palace with contemporary style and sophistication, perfect for enjoying our champagne reception and welcome dinner.

From Trianon Palace we followed a route south west on empty smooth tarmac through historic forests, rolling countryside and pretty villages, before arriving in Burgundy for our second night where we stayed overnight at a beautiful restored Château. Here we were able to take a refreshing swim or have a quick game of tennis before enjoying a delicious dinner in the medieval banqueting hall.

From Burgundy we continue south west into the Alps, from this point the next few days were in the mountains, where we stayed in the legendary Ferme de Marie in the Haute-Savoie and Chateau de Taulane in the Alpes-de-Haut-Provence. These fantastic hotels allowed us to cross some spectacular passes and drive through ancient gorges that wind through some of the most stunning scenery in Europe.

On day six, we left the Alps and headed down to the Côte d’Azur and our finish line in Casino Square, Monte Carlo where our final night was spent at the Hotel de Paris.

Crucially, the Supercar Run is a treasure hunt, that follows one of the best researched driving routes you can find, providing you with the perfect opportunity to enjoy your Supercar. The clues are of course optional, however the more competitive among you may wish to challenge yourself against the clues, for which there are fabulous prizes donated by our sponsors. Our route did not follow any major routes or motorways, so every day of the Supercar Run was a day full of fantastic and empty roads.
