Event: The Supercar Run 2011

The Supercar Run 2011 4th June 2011

If you own a Supercar, either modern or classic, the Supercar Run provides you with an opportunity to really enjoy driving it, whilst ensuring you have a well researched route, proper event support and decent hotels to stay in.

If you love driving through beautiful scenery on empty roads and enjoy great company, then this is for you.

In the first week of June each year the Supercar Run takes place in Europe. Each year we find a new well researched route for you that allows you to happily drive your car along empty roads while staying in very nice hotels. We think simply driving down a motorway or major road is pointless.

The key is the route, which is well suited to Supercars, avoids traffic and lorries, and follows empty roads leading you over abandoned mountain passes with breathtaking scenery, through empty rural villages and across some truly beautiful open countryside.

Limited to just 35 Supercars, both classic and modern, this five day tour passes through the Loire, Puy de Dome, Haute Loire, Ardeche, Vaucluse, Drome, Provence and the Alpes Maritime following a stunning route.

However following the route does not have to be that simple… particularly if you choose to take on the challenge of solving the cryptic clues that are set along the route for you. This is how The Supercar Club brings a competitive element to the event, although its entirely optional with many teams simply having a happy time following the route. The added bonus of having a go are the impressive prizes that are kindly provided by our sponsors. At regular intervals along the route you will find fun clues set in interesting places, historic buildings, or at sites that are worthy of a visit, or perhaps a village square where you might stop for a coffee or some lunch in a local brasserie.

The Trianon Palace in Versailles is the setting for the start of your journey, where you will be staying on Saturday the 4th of June. The hotel is one of France's finest luxury retreats. Just steps away from the Chateau de Versailles, it blends the ambiance of the legendary palace with contemporary style and sophistication. After event registration you will enjoy a champagne reception and welcome dinner giving you the opportunity to meet your fellow drivers, before crossing the start line on the Sunday morning and heading south west through empty rolling countryside to the Loire valley with a route of 160 miles, stopping off here and there for the occasional clue or some lunch.

Our second night is spent at an historic and particularly beautiful Chateau set down a long drive surrounded by formal gardens, with far reaching views into the Loire. The Loire known as the garden of France is a world heritage site and home to some of the most significant architectural buildings in France.

The following morning we start to head south east with a route of 220 miles through more open countryside before beginning our journey into the Massif Central through the Indre and Creuse regions where we tackle the mountains and plateaux for which the region is so famous, stopping off to have a go at the odd clue here and there, finishing the days drive in the shadow of the Puy de Dome near Clermont Ferrand where we overnight at the nicest luxury hotel in the region.

On day three we have an early start as we continue across the stunning Puy de Dome region and the Massif Central on our longest days drive of 270 miles, tackling some fantastic winding roads as we pass through the Ardeche and Drome regions of the mountains before arriving in the Vaucluse at a newly created  luxury hotel and spa. We spend two nights here allowing you a little more time to enjoy this stunning hotel, perhaps visit the spa and relax or head out on day four when our route is 160 miles into the Vaucluse region which offers some truly stunning scenery and roads including the legendary Mount Ventoux, famous for being the most exciting hill climb course in France that features in the FIA European Hill Climb championship. Mount Ventoux is the largest mountain in the region and has been nicknamed the "Giant of Provence".

As you leave the Vaucluse on day five your 180 miles route will head up some high passes in the Alpes de Provence, passing Lavender fields and mountain lakes before arriving in the Alpes Maritimes to take on your last big pass down to the Cote d’Azur and finally Monte Carlo to cross the finish line!

You will be accompanied by The Supercar Club team of marshals who are there to help make sure you have a happy holiday and make things run smoothly for you, as well as our technicians, luggage van (so that you can pack what you like and not worry about being short of space in your car) and even a tyre truck which is pre-loaded with tyres for each car on the event.

All maps are provided, along with detailed instructions where necessary, as well as event clothing, the event book in which you will be listed, and a host of other gifts.

Should you wish we can arrange to have your car collected by covered transporter from your home or storage facility and delivered to Versailles allowing you to simply fly in and enjoy the Supercar Run. We can also arrange for it to be taken home for you at the end of the event, allowing you to fly home.

Supercar Club events are about having fun, enjoying your car, the people, the scenery, fantastic hotels and the amazing places that we visit, but most of all they are about driving your car!

Please don’t hesitate to call any of the team at the Supercar Club to discuss a possible entry.

The cost of entry is £7500 per car including six nights accommodation for two people, champagne receptions, drinks parties, dinner every night, the gala dinner in Monte Carlo and a whole lot more.
